Save Lubbock's Health Department

Texas’ budget cuts hurt local health departments. The City of Lubbock is considering closing its health department all together. Instead of providing vital health services to Lubbock patients, such as vaccines and services for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), the city plans to outsource these programs. Lubbock physicians are asking city officials not to do this, especially since the city has the highest STD rate in the state.

Lubbock physicians say, “Dismantling our city’s health department and fragmenting its services is not a good solution, nor is it good public health.”
