Texans Needed for Cancer Study

Texans have an opportunity to participate in a historic study that has the potential to change the face of cancer for future generations. The American Cancer Society is enrolling 300,000 people in a 20- to 30-year study called CPS-3.

CPS stands for “cancer prevention study.” The number 3 indicates this is the third time the American Cancer Society has undertaken a study of this magnitude to understand cancer’s risks factors. The goal of the study is to help researchers better understand the lifestyle, environmental, and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer.

Enroll today. If you live in Austin you can enroll in CPS-3 at the Texas Medical Association or at St. David’s Episcopal Church on Feb. 29, and March 1, 4, and 6. Eligibility and enrollment details for Austin can be found at cps3AustinDT.com. To access other Texas enrollment sites visit cps3hp.org.
