Wanted: Texans for Cancer Study

Texans can enroll in a historic study that will help researchers better understand how to prevent cancer. Healthy Texans between the ages of 30 and 65 with no history of cancer are encouraged to sign up for the 20- to 30- year study. Enrollment is taking place today at the Texas Medical Association (TMA).

Study participants have the opportunity to help change the face of cancer for future generations. “This is the only study that is population-based that people can volunteer for,” says Mark Clanton, MD, chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society, High Plains Division. “You can choose to volunteer and contribute to our understanding of how the environment, diet, genetics, and exercise can either promote health or lead to cancer.” Dr. Clanton also enrolled in the study today at TMA.
