Douglas Curran, MD, an Athens, Texas family physician and member of the Texas Medical Association (TMA) Board of Trustees, recently scooted out of a TMA meeting a few minutes early for an important cause — to travel back home to celebrate a big milestone with a longtime patient. He says that sort of thing — caring for people, building relationships — is why he so enjoys being a doctor.
“It’s just another reason that I love my job. I’ve got the best job in the world,” Dr. Curran says. “Most docs are really glad they get to do what they do and they’re so proud that they can take care of Texans and see that lots of them get to be 100 years of age.”
