When a patient visited family physician Travis Bias, DO, with all the risk factors for heart disease, doctor and patient worked together to improve the patient’s health and add years back to his life. Within six months, the patient had slimmed down, given up smoking, and no longer needed diabetes medication. The adoption of a healthier lifestyle affected more than just the patient; it served as another example for Dr. Bias of why he became a physician.
“Seeing that our relationship that we had built … had all amounted to helping him to decrease his risk factor for a heart attack and stroke at an earlier age made all the difference in the world,” says Dr. Bias.
